16.900 Ft
Vintage: 2016 was a balanced, medium hot vintage. The cool spring and early summer were followed by a hot summer touched with storms and then a long ripening perios in which rainy and dry periods followed one another. Multi-layered wines with distinct acid structure and good aromas, slightly peach and pollen finish. These wines are characterised by freshness and compexity.
Vineyard: Urbán is in the west of Mád. The Szepsy family cultivates 2.3 hectares of E-SE-facing steep stony slopes and terraces of the 42-ha vineyard that lies 220-240 m above sea level. Planted in 1936, these old vines are 80% Furmint and 20% Hárslevelű. Post-volcanic activity created the soils of quartz rhyolite tuff with places with hard quartz in which thin layer of soil with tiny pebbles. In every vintage Urbán Vineyard gives wines with dense structure and layers that are elegant in appearance with defined acids, unique structure, flavours and decades of aging potential.
Winemaking: The wine is from the 0.34-ha parcel 3573 in which there are large numbers of the original ancient small, loose-bunched Furmint clones. The wine is made every year but only in such outstanding vintages, like 2017, is it released onto the market. The harvest was on 27 September. Yeast was added and the wine fermented in a new 300-l oak barrel. It then aged for 7 months before being bottled on 18 May 2018.
