Szepsy Szent Tamás 46 Furmint 2017
25.900 Ft
Vintage: After the coldest winter in recent years, bud break was relatively early and on 30 May 2017 the vines burst into flower. Thanks to the combination of plenty of sunshine, cold nights and cool dawns, and appropriate precipitation at the right time, in all respects this vintage has given us classic outstanding wines, concentrated, elegant and lively with beautiful aromas and marked acidity.
Vintage: The Szent Tamás vineyard is located in the eastern part of Mád, where the Szepsy family cultivates about 11 hectares of slopes at altitudes of 140-230 metres above sea level. The vineyard has old vines, traditional goblet training and incredibly varied soil layers. The soil here is strikingly layered (red clay, weathered zeolite, hard rhyolite, tuff) due to post-volcanic activity and this gives top wines from this vineyard the unparalleled mineral, complex and endless length along with several decades of potential.
Winemaking: The wine was made from a 0.98-ha parcel 068/46 from which the Szepsy family make dry wine in every vintage. The harvest happened in several stages between 28 September and 2 October. Yeast was added and the wine fermented in new 300-l oak barrels, then aged for seven months. It was bottled on 7 May 2018.
