Szepsy Bányász Furmint 2017

12.900 Ft

Vintage: After the coldest winter in recent years, bud break was relatively early and on 30 May 2017 the vines burst into flower. Thanks to the combination of plenty of sunshine, cold nights and cool dawns, and appropriate precipitation at the right time, in all respects this is a vintage that has given us classic outstanding wines, concentrated, elegant and lively with beautiful aromas and marked acidity.

Vineyard: Bányász is a historical First Growth vineyard in Tállya where the oldest vines were planted in the 1960s. Mainly Furmint grows with about 20% Hárslevelű in this south-facing land 160-180 m above sea level. The soil is mainly pyroclastic andesite: rubble and tuff with rhyolite tuff in deeper layers and patches. The climate is cooler and windier than in Mád.

Wines from this vineyard are long livers, multi-layered with defined acid backbone, marked structure and fresh flower aromas.

Winemaking: The wine is made from a 2-hectare area from which Szepsy Winery makes dry and sweet wine every year. Dry Furmint was harvested on 10 October, fermented with yeast in new 300-l oak barrels and aged for seven months.
