Szepsy Aszú 2008
Antique gold roundedness opening in the glass. The “textbook” Aszú
Vintage: After the changeable and rainy summer of 2008, a long and warm autumn arrived, a real Indian summer, which was very favourable for the development of the palette of botrytis flavours. A vintage of wines with higher alcohol, lively, fresh acidity, full-bodied, holds well, long aging potential elegant.
Winemaking: For Szepsy 2008 Aszú the aszú berries were selected from the vine from the first half of November: 70% Furmint, 20% Hárslevelű and 10% Sárgamuskotály. The harvest happened throughout the Szepsy estate and in several stages. In December the aszú berries were put into still-fermenting base wine of 70% Furmint and 30% Hárslevelű from Szent Tamás and Úrágya. After three days maceration the wine was pressed and spent nearly five years in 300-l Zemplén oak barrels until it was bottled in July 2013.
